About Me

Hey mamas, dads, and anyone else who’s ever navigated the wild world of parenthood!

I’m here, bleary-eyed and caffeinated, to welcome you to my digital diary. It’s a place where I attempt to chain together coherent sentences while simultaneously keeping a tiny human from dismantling the living room with the fervor of a construction crew on a sugar high. And oh yeah, somehow manage to pay the bills through the magic of freelance writing.

Let’s rewind a few years. Picture this: me, a young(ish) professional navigating the corporate jungle like a gazelle in a tutu. Then, life throws a curveball (or maybe a whole baseball game’s worth) in the form of my husband’s move for a job across the globe. So, I traded my power suits for utility pants and changed from a career woman to someone who got really good at packing boxes efficiently. The following ten years were a bittersweet mix of acclimating to a new way of life, seeking out reminders of home in the most unexpected places, and falling in love with the beauty and spirit of our new community.

But then, our world did a complete 180 with the arrival of our daughter. She’s our sunshine after the storm, the missing puzzle piece we didn’t even know we needed. Every giggle, every messy masterpiece, every “why?” that could rival a philosophical debate – it’s the beautiful chaos of parenthood, and we wouldn’t trade it for the world (even if it means saying goodbye to a clean house).

Re-entering the workforce after a decade was less like a triumphant return and more like sneaking back into a party after having stepped out for some fresh air—only to find out the theme has changed, and you’re now sporting yesterday’s pajamas. My initial attempts at side hustles were more “side” than “hustle,” but then I stumbled into freelance writing. It was like learning to ride a bike again, except this time the bike was a laptop, and the path was littered with rogue crayons and crumbs from breakfast.

Balancing freelance work with a preschooler is, shall we say, an artistic endeavor. Imagine crafting an article with the pressure of a deadline looming, while simultaneously hosting a tea party for a group of stuffed animals with very specific dietary demands (apparently, Dino prefers his tea with three precisely placed dried pieces of Play-Doh). It’s a whirlwind of joy, panic, and the occasional game of “Why is that sticky?”

This blog isn’t a handbook for perfect parenting, not by a long shot. Think of it more like a collection of post-it notes from a sleep-deprived mama who’s still figuring it out, one typo at a time. Here, you’ll find stories from the trenches of freelance writing, not so much as a guide, but as a giant “Same!” for anyone who’s ever felt like they’re just winging it.

Life is a never-ending jigsaw puzzle where work, motherhood, and personal time are pieces that don’t always fit perfectly. But hey, it’s my puzzle, and honestly, I wouldn’t trade it for anything – even if I do occasionally step on a piece barefoot (because toddlers, am I right?).

So, grab a cup of coffee (or your beverage of choice; mine is tea!), pull up a chair (or a spot on the floor, because toddlers), and join me on this wild ride. Here’s to navigating the ups, downs, and sideways of mom life, one spilled sippy cup and missed deadline at a time. We’re all in this together, and together, we can laugh (and maybe even cry) our way through it!
